4K Thunderstorms in Volos, Greece

Thunder over the Pagasetic Gulf answers its own question. In Greek mythology, this exact stretch of coastline was Zeus's favourite kind of stage — Mount Pelion rising directly behind Volos was said to be the home of the centaurs, ruled over by Chiron, the wisest of them and tutor to heroes like Jason and Achilles. Watching a storm roll in here in real time, it's easy to see why the ancients reached for gods and monsters to explain what the sky was doing.

Volos itself sits at the innermost point of that gulf, built over the ruins of three ancient cities — Iolcos, Pagasae, and Demetrias — layered on top of each other across roughly three thousand years.
